Why Wood Pellets?
Wood Pellets are an affordable and safe way to heat.
In a cost per BTU comparison using current costs for both heating oil and wood pellets, pellet heating costs somewhat less than heating with oil. Furthermore, wood pellet pricing has been stable over the past several years, where oil has shown that it can go up staggeringly high in just a short time. Using wood pellets for heat, we figure that an average home may be able to save a lot of money per year, even with oil at current levels.
Wood Pellets are a renewable and a regional resource.
Not only do wood pellets cost less to heat than with oil, but the raw material used to make pellets is found right here in the forests of Northern New England. Plans for a new pellet-making facility are in the works for the New Hampshire North Country that will add a tremendous amount of additional capacity to current supplies. The healthy forests of our region are an excellent place to grow and cultivate raw materials for wood pellet production.
Wood Pellets are a clean-burning source of heat.
Because premium wood pellets are low in moisture and high in BTU content, they burn more completely, producing more heat and tremendously fewer emissions than burning cordwood. Today’s pellet-burning stoves and central heating systems leave behind only a trace of ash for the quantity of wood pellets burned which means less maintenance and more worry-free operation.
